Rock climbing has far more to it than just a person climbing a rock. First, there are four basic types of rock climbing: top ropping, lead climbing, bouldering, and free climbing.

The climber, as one would assume, is the person climbing the rock. Generally in order to start a top rope climb at an outdoor climbing location, a lead climber must first climb the rock and attach a quick draw at the top of the climb in order for a top ropping climber to begin.

Finally, the last, and by far most dangerous type of climbing, is free climbing.

Rock Climbing – Different Types

Wall climbing is gaining in popularity and both the versions such as indoor and outdoor wall climbing have become popular because of this. Wall climbing is both fun and challenging, testing your body’s strength and endurance. Wall climbing is also preferred by rock climbers to train during winter and the monsoon months. Skills required for climbing steep cliffs can be honed in the wall climbing gym itself. Building a climbing wall is not really difficult and once built, the wall will vastly improve your climbing skills along with your strength and cardio vascular capacity.

Stair climbing is perfect for an overall workout because it is an equal mix of endurance, explosion, and strength building. If you have never run stairs before, start off slow, taking the stairs one step at a time and rest after running just a few levels.

Uphill Sprints- Here is another exercise that will challenge your core. Do the walks first in 1 minute intervals. As you become stronger, you can progress to a higher setting until eventually you are sprinting uphill in intervals.

With intervals, you are basically getting a solid workout all the while also building a strong body overall. Aim for 5 intervals initially (or a 10-15 minute workout).

The reason why intervals work so well with building a stronger and fit core is that your body overall is forced to work harder than doing exercises that isolate a particular part of the body.

If you can incorporate intervals into your workout two times a week, you will not only notice that your body overall is stronger but you will begin to build a sprinter’s body….and that is a body that most people dream of having…

Say Goodbye To Sit-Ups and Crunches and Hello To Rock Hard Abs With This Simple Workout

Try doing pull-ups, this is one of the best upper body exercises you can do and it mimics climbing.

You could even select your rock climbing wall kit in either stained pine, or redwood, or any other kind of material of your preference. The wall kit is inclusive of ten rock wall holds, along with the mounting hardware.
Technique or power?

Rock Climbing – Technique Versus Power

What’s an auto belay?

Traditionally, top rope climbing involves two people – the climber and the belayer.

An auto belay is an automatic belay device that eliminates the need for a human belayer. Rather than requiring one human belayer per climber, auto belay devices allows multiple climbers on the wall with one person as a supervisor.

Why use an auto belay?

- Attract single climbers: With an auto belay, climbers don’t need to rely on having a partner every time they visit your facility. Auto belays eliminate the need for belayer training and testing, allowing new participants to just clip in and climb. Auto belay devices eliminate the human error factor from the equation, reducing your risk.
